Oragenics, Inc. Engages GSP Consulting Corporation To Represent Its Breakthrough
Scientific Research To The Government
Leading Consultancy Organization To Introduce Oragenics’ Technologies For Government Programs
Tampa, FL (January 20, 2010) – Oragenics, Inc. (OTCBB: ORNI www.oragenics.com) has engaged government relations firm, GSP Consulting ("GSP"), to represent the Company for the purpose of securing government funding for a number of its technologies. GSP will focus on three areas where Oragenics has developed potentially breakthrough technologies.
First, deaths caused by infections continue to rise at alarming rates. The medical community has made it a top priority to identify and develop new classes of antibiotics that will combat infections that have become resistant to current antibiotics, as well as antibiotics to combat threats posed by bioterrorism. Oragenics' DPOLT synthetic chemistry platform allows the Company to synthesize MU 1140 and other lantibiotics, which have the potential to address these pressing needs. Partnering with government and NGO healthcare organizations can increase the speed to market for antibiotics produced by this innovative platform.
Second, early detection of a disease is often critical to its successful treatment. Oragenics’ PCMAT platform allows us to achieve this goal quickly and with great sensitivity by identifying novel diagnostic ‘biomarkers’ in the blood or urine of patients. With assistance from government funding, Oragenics can apply this new technology to a wide variety of diseases, including cancers, infections, traumatic injuries and autoimmune diseases.
Finally, Oragenics has also committed itself to developing solutions to the burgeoning increase in tooth decay, a chronic infectious disease that affect billions of people worldwide. The Company's SMaRT replacement therapy technology is simply swabbed onto the surfaces of the teeth once over a five minute period, and will then protect the patient against the bacterium that causes most tooth decay.
With assistance from government funding, Oragenics can complete the work into these new technologies that are anticipated to have a profound impact on improving the health of people in our country and throughout the world.
David Hirsch, the Company's President and CEO stated, “We are pleased to be working with GSP in our efforts to uncover non-dilutive governmental financing to advance our various technologies, especially MU1140, our lead antibiotic, and the DPOLT synthetic chemistry platform.” Aaron Grau, a Partner with GSP and leader of its Federal Government Affairs Practice stated, "We are excited by Oragenics' technologies and we look forward to helping the company in its initiative to obtain governmental funding."
